As the Jubilee Year approached, in the first days of December, the daily-paper "Repubblica" published an article about secret service's "attention" towards our Association. ABR immediately responded with the following press-release, that didn't find place on the pages of "Repubblica", not even partially.

We have read the article by G.M. Bellu on the activity Sismi, Sisde and Cesis carry out about the threats supposed to hang over 2000 Jubilee, in the context including the Association for Baptism Removal and "a day exposed to hazard -February 17, 2000", referring to "demonstrating actions against the pilgrims".

Being Sismi, Sisde and Cesis Secret Services, one could expect that they dealt with secret - or, at least, private - matters, never with public gatherings that the organizers try to spread as wide as possible.

In the 400th of the murder of Giordano Bruno, 3 days of public demonstrations will take place from Feb. 17 to 19 in Campo de' Fiori square in Rome, and in particular for the meeting summoned on Saturday 19 (an international one), notice has already been given to the Police authorities, all this organized by ABR and various other secular, atheist and anticlerical associations.

ABR exists and publicizes its activities since 1986 - if the Secret Services discovers it now only, it does not go to their credit and efficiency (but reminding their foregoings in matter of slaughters, black funds, frames, out-tracking, it is all the better so).

We intend to make clear that we have nothing against pilgrims - petty day-dreamers exposed to swindle with the promise of a seat in Paradise. We stand against the curtain of silence cast on the squandering of public money (3 billion US$) lavished by the Italian State to finance the biggest self-celebration ever in history. Is it possible that no one in our country noticed that we spend 100 US$ beforehand for every pilgrim expected to come?

The problem is apparently as follows - to put a gag over the mouth of whoever sings out of the chorus. Just like they tried to do 400 years ago with Giordano Bruno, they nowadays try, with the Secret Services performing as Pontifical body-guards.
